Marshall Stevens Project Completion!

Category: Uncategorized

Well it’s been a long seven months, but we are finally finished with Marshall’s CD. The songs all turned out super and the layout of the CD is a real journey. I will post up some of the before/after clips over at RisingSunSound.com once mastering is finished. So you can see the song ideas as they were brought to us, and the finished product as the song was realized. Now I will have about a four month break before taking on anything else major as our son, Colin will be arriving March 10, 2014!! So we’ll be busy with the new little one.

What’s up?

Category: Music/Studio

Well been pretty busy recording Marshall Stevens new cd. I’m laying down the drum tracks and keys, and Todd Lathrop is hitting the bass tracks and keys. We are splitting duties producing, engineering, etc.. I am a decent drummer once things get quantized. In todays recording market, who isn’t being edited. The one thing we haven’t done is use the Britney Spears magic machine on the vocals that Marshall is tracking. I think it’s a crutch, and he’s got a pretty damn good voice to begin with. Marshall is also tracking all the guitars on his cd and doing great. We are two songs in and have quite a few to go. Looking forward to tracking more this weekend, we are bringing in Amber Miller to add some backups on song 2. Look for clips over at RisingSunSound...

Things you never want to see/hear from a bandmate.

I present to you in jest the following:

1. “Can’t really invest in this band, after Nashville, well you know….”

2. I refuse to play in another band that must be named after a single member of said band. I’ve never thought so much of myself that I said, hey, I am so great we should call us “me”. Lots of gigs will roll in. Not to mention all the recognition I will get…..

3. If you say you want to invest in the bands gear, start with your own, then after getting gig worthy gear, spend on the frills.

4. If you buy new gear, buy gear better than you already own, can’t understand spending money to downgrade, but that’s just my opinion…..

Restructuring my site

Category: Thoughts

Over the next month I’ll be reworking my site to better reflect my music endeavors. I want to separate my personal music projects from those projects recorded for others. Look for a link to my upcoming Rising Sun Sound project studio site, there I will be posting links to songs recorded for other musicians.

On a side note, I want to thank my bandmates. Richard Haynes and Todd Lathrop. I couldn’t ask for two better friends and musicians to share my passion for music. Starting in January we will start recording some of our covers now that we have a complete mobile recording setup for our practice space. Those songs will be posted up on RattleBonesBand.com. Our website for the band. My apologies to those that had already visited the site with our media page in test mode...
